The Third Degree Burn is where each week we subject a different artist to a barrage of random and ofttimes fairly meaningless questioning. This week we ask Bless Roxwell to feel the third degree burn.

Name & Rank: Bless Roxwell, MC/Verbal Artist/Blogger/all around cool chick!
Serial Number (Age):
shhh...
Group:
Me... Bless Roxwell, and on occasion my DJ, DJ Scandales

Let’s begin:

Where are you from (hometown) and where are you now:

I'm originally from Boston, been in NY for 10 years..

When did you start performing?
I did my very first show waaaaay back in 1999...

How do you describe your music to people?
Bless:
TRUE LOVE. true love of true Hip Hop, true love of being true to self, true love of those around you that are true.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Bless:

1. pick and choose your battles
2. pick and choose your friends
3. only you can make you happy
4. don't work so hard to beat yourself u b/c the world is here to do that for you.
5. there's only 2 questions in this music industry: who the f*ck are? what can I do for you?

Favorite new song from the past year:
Bless:
D.O.A. (Death of Autotune) -Jay Z. He's not the first to say it, but he said it the freshest way I've heard to date.

Your most favorite new group:
Bless:
The Beatards. I know them, they're my homies and I just love their energy and they ROCK when they're on stage, man listen, they go in!

Your favorite song of all time:
Bless:
My fave song of ALL time?! OMG, how would I even choose?! Mood is all important... I may need to hear some Sade or Portishead. or I may need to hear some Jay or Beyonce or The Killers, or Stevie or MJ... I mean, I love/live/breathe music so there is no possible way for me to narrow that down and get this back to you in 2009..

Group/Artist you’d like to work with most:
Bless:
Jay Z, MC Lyte

Last great concert you saw:
Bless:
She's So Fresh Showcase at Karma Lounge NYC

Last great film you saw:
Bless:
Transformers 2..., Dayum, that was awhile ago.

A popular band you think should be more obscure:
Bless:
Hmm... I have learned in the years I been doing this that everybody is where they are for a reason. So if you are struggling and not achieving your goals with this music, look to yourself, because there IS a reason. And if you are successful with your music then there is SOMETHING somebody did right. Either you got the right machine behind you, or the right team in place. But whatever it is. my only issue is when folks do achieve "success" and then hoard information that may help the next person, or the generation behind them. So I would NEVER say some one should be MORE obscure, but I do wish that those that have a little fame or notoriety would mentor the youth, teach, or do more to give a helping hand..

An obscure group you think should be more popular:
Bless:
Crown Royale (Buff1der and DJ Rhettmatic), The Beatards

Your favorite musical instrument:
Bless:
My favorite instrument?! Um.. the tuba? jk, I would say Tollah's MPC60II

Your favorite City to perform in:

Bless: NYC baby!

Your favorite venue:
Bless:
Any venue that has a good sound system and sound-man/woman/people! you'd be surprised how many spots have live performances and shows and their sound systems leave so much to be desired. And their sound-men/women/people have mega attitudes and be f*cking up, so much so it seems like it's on purpose. dear venues: please don't hire sound people that have issues with making artists sound good! It's their job! If they don't want to do it, or have an attitude about it, they shouldn't be running the sound!

If you had your own country what would you name it?
