Let’s begin...

Where are you from (hometown) and where are you now:
Newark-born, Minneapolis-raised and now residing in BK!

When did you start performing?
i've been performing/writing since i was a teenager.

How do you describe your music to people?

i call it "spoken soul" --  a fusion of spoken word, eclectic rhymes, rock and soul music. It's a montage of all the music i grew up listening to and loved too much that i decided i didn't have to choose just one to express myself.

Favorite new song from the past year:
Sober (by Pink). i absolutely LOVE this song and to see/hear her do it in her trapeze act - i am still in awe!

Your most favorite new group:
'New' as in mainstream?... just released an album 'new'? dang... how about "down the street" new?
...mainstream new? Melanie Fiona... i attended the BET Rising Icons taping of her - and she was AMAZING.
...but "down the street" new? i salute Minneapolis-based artist Jamela Pettiford -- to hear her sing is to hear angels...i swear!

Your favorite song of all time:
Just one favorite song? i need like several pages... let's see:
Sade's "Pearls", Extreme's "More than Words", Common's "I Used to Love H.E.R.", Jimi Hendrix's "If 6 was 9", Lauryn Hill's "Sweetest Thing" and almost everything from Bob Marley and Tina Turner.

Group/Artist you’d like to work with most:

Again, with the only one thing. So... Andre3000, Pink, CeeLo, Lauryn Hill, Roots, Prince, Mos Def, and the 20+ other artists i am going to kick myself later for not mentioning.

Last great concert you saw:

i go to performance "shows" all the time, but the last great concert? i gotta go with Prince 'cause he takes u on the most magnificent journeys -- i never got to see MJ.

Last great film you saw:
I just spent the whole day re-watching the Matrix Trilogy.

An obscure group you think should be more popular:
(i am) isis, of course! besides us, i can't wait to see Mujah Messiah gain the world recognition he's due as an emcee.

Your favorite musical instrument:
Hmmm... my mouth (for vox, of course!) but, i am also in love with the guitar. i can't wait to be able to play it on stage.

Your last performance:
Spoken Soul LIVE! @ Oze Tavern

Your favorite City to perform in:
Right now, it's Brooklyn. i am so appreciative of the love i've received from my new home.

Your favorite venue:
The historic First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis. It's such an integral part of Minneapolis' music history

If you had your own country what would you name it?
Amazingly Random
