Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott passed away at the age of 54. The Reggae and dancehall artist, passed away on Saturday, July 10 in Kingston, Jamaica. Just a couple months ago Minott was forced to cancel Canadian tour dates because he was gravely ill and had been diagnosed as having Angina Pectoris – a severe heart condition.
Born Lincoln Barrington Minott in Kingston in May 1956, Sugar Minott began his career as a member of the African Brothers trio before embarking on a successful solo career that scored a number of dancehall hits including "Mr. DC" and "Vanity".
The veteran singer also established himself as a successful talent scout/producer, discovering and developing dancehall artists such as: Junior Reid, Tenor Saw, Little John, Triston Palmer, Barry Brown, Tony Tuff, and many more. Sugar Minott's final album, "New Day" is scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
